Focus on Food: Chaga and Kernels

August 3, 2017

If you know anything about Our Father's Farm (the farm that houses Canteen Destiny), you'll know that their main claim to fame is Apricot Kernels, as well as Canadian grown Chaga. I get asked about these things a lot when talking about the farm (especially apricot kernels!) so I thought I'd make a quick post for all of you out there in the cyber world. I've taken the information about each from the Our Father's Farm (this is me citing them!) website, so you're getting the real information. No false news here!

Hope it helps you understand a little more about the farm, and about some of the amazing natural things out there that are beneficial to our bodies!

Apricot Kernels

Apricot kernels are a great addition to ones diet. There are numerous health benefits which can be found by doing a search on the internet. Since we are not allowed to post claims our website, we must leave it up to you to research this incredible super-food, its benefits and how it has helped hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

They contain high amounts of nitrilosides which may help to prevent cancer or shrink tumors.  Apricot kernels contain vitamin B17 which is a nutrient that the North American diet lacks.  Vitamin B17 is found in over 1800 different foods and the most concentrated form is found in the apricot kernel (seed).

In addition to EXtreme Bitter Apricot Kernels, we also carry Certified Organic Apricot Kernels, not as bitter, but still a wise choice.

Our fresh, high quality, naturally-dried, certified organic apricot seeds are non-GMO, they are RAW and FRESH ! They have not been pasteurized, steamed or cooked in any way and therefore retain the maximum complement of natural nutrients. Bitter apricot kernels are a great choice as an introduction to this super food. They can be added to a smoothie, soaked in water overnight before ingesting for greater nutritional benefits or eaten as is. We suggest to consume no more kernels than you would if you were to eat the apricot fruit as well. Other people choose to consume apricot kernels for medicinal purposes and we recommend consulting with a natural Dr. to determine the amount that is suited for each person.

Chaga

Chaga is an essential whole food that acts as a protective layer on the birch tree  and can in turn be used as a tea and the many nutrients enjoyed. Chaga is safe and wholesome for the body, and acts as a shield against disease, deficiencies, and aids in general well-being. Cheers to Chaga!

Chaga is impressive in appearance and effect with it's unique shapes and texture. You can tell people about its power and character, yet few can truly understand it until they have experienced it on their own: the cork-like, caramel- coloured, dense chaga core; the branded outer ridges; and the nutritionally rich, hardened layering found on the inner mushroom in between.

Some of the health properties of CHAGA:

  • Has been shown to contain the highest amount of ORAC levels (a food’s antioxidant power)

  • Abundance of B Vitamins

  • 215 Phytonutrients

  • Reduces Fatigue

  • Strengthens Immune System

  • Improves Sleep

  • Supports Immune Function

  • Anti-Aging

  • Regulates Function of Muscles and Nerves

  • Improves Mental Clarity

  • Eliminates the Effects of Stress
