​FIELD TRIP INFORMATION FOR HOME SCHOOL GROUPS, PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND CATHOLIC SCHOOLS IN ONTARIO

Please note that our field trip season has closed, but will resume in the Spring!
​
Canteen Destiny's outdoor classroom rests on a 21 acre organic farm in the suburb of Hamilton, Ontario. We are central to Burlington, Dundas, Cambridge & Brantford. We are surrounded by conservation lands, as well as wide open spaces, old and modern buildings and so much more for children to learn and explore. Our teachings are a mix of modern and times past.

We offer grade programs, as well as those that we customize to your group to provide the optimal learning experience for student and teacher. We can build a trip from scratch just for you, with the desired balance of aducation and fun!
Our programs are presented by our team of staff who are passionate about agricultural enlightenment.
​
We are also happy to combine any of the programs offered
in order to cover one or more units of study, or to satisfy
split grade reqirements.
​
The programs listed below outline the grade level and
a few of the big ideas that will be covered during the trip.

Join us this October or November at our base located at Our Father's Farm, where we can host your school for an upcoming field trip to our 21 acre organic farm.

HALF DAY MORNING 10:00 am - 11:30 am - $6.00 per child base price
HALF DAY AFTERNOON: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm - $6.00 per child base price
FULL DAY: 10:00 am - 1:30 pm - $12.00 per child base price

Open Barn Doors
K
KINDERGARDEN
Expereince a day on our organic farm. Enjoy a scavenger hunt in the garden and say hello to our farm animals. Bring home a plant to watch it grow plus so much more!

Goal: Develop personal & social skills, physical fitness activities.

Birds, Bugs and Trees

GRADE ONE
As we take a nature walk through our trails and buildings, discover where animals call home. See why the woods are buzzing with activity and how our buildings are designed for our farm animals.
Goal: Setting the relationship between farms, nautal environments & man-made local environments, plus developing mapping skills.

Horse, Chickens & Goats

GRADE TWO
Learn about out animals while doing new things. Milk our goats, collect eggs and brush horses. There are plenty of hands-on-activities that help you learn how to care for animals.
Goal: All animals have their similarities and thier differences.

GRADE THREE
Get the Dirt on Plants
Our farm is the perfect place to investigate plants from seeds to flowers to fruits. Investigate why soil is so important. Four stops to explore growth and changes in plants and the rural community.

Goal: The environment is affected by human activity. The quality of soil plays a significant role.

New Beginnings

GRADE FIVE
Learn about how food has changed society and the environment through the last few centuries. Learn about the beginnings of our farm, and where we are now! Participate in a hands on project that will leave your mark on the food system!

Goal: Social and environmental challenges had a major impact on the communities.

Learn what the daily responsibilities of a farm owner are. Learn what to do and what not to do when working on a farm, and follow the paths of the ups and downs.
Goal: Get hands on experience from the point of view of the farm owner.

See first hand the alternative way to run a farm. Learn about Solar Powered panels and renewable energy and the effects it has on a local farm.
Goal: Develop an understanding about saving the environment and the people one set at a time.
